Ringier Romandie VINEA

History of the Swiss Wine Guide 2011-2012 project

The first edition of the Swiss Wine Guide appeared in 2004, a project that was the result of a partnership between the Vinea Association and the Interprofession Suisse du Vin association. The first edition was published in French and German and was an immediate success.

The guide was then published every two years, with the next edition coming out in November 2006 with several new features: Ringier Romandie was the new publishing house, there was a new layout and an Italian version was published in addition to German and French ones. The third edition was published in November 2008 with, for the first time, an English edition that replaced the Italian one.

The fourth edition of the guide is now being printed and will have its official launch during the Gala du Vin Suisse 28 October 2010 in Bern. It is being published in three languages (English, French and German). This edition highlights the winning wines from the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse 2010, with photos of the wines that receive awards, a list of the winners and details about the competition. The editors have interviewed each of the 450 producers included in the guide, Switzerland’s top winemakers. They share with readers stories they gathered and the producers’ portraits, including technical and practical information about the wineries. A selected group of wineries are highlighted, with more detailed descriptions and tasting notes.

An exclusive and new section on food and wine pairings will delight readers. It was produced in partnership with Georges Wenger, renowned owner of the Noirmont Restaurant in western Switzerland, a passionate defender of indiginous wine and fine food products. A mouth-watering treat!
